- History of this instrument:
The history of this Tar goes back to 140-150 years ago. According to Master Jalal Zolfonoun, great Master of playing Setar in Iran this instrument had belonged to one of Qajar princess and then has changed hands many Masters. About 50 years ago it was brought to Master Zanganeh workshop for repairing and then about 20 years ago Master Zolfonoun bought it from Master Zanganeh and gave it to his older daughter as a gift since it is more suitable for women to play.
The sound bowl is small and the dimensions of the instrument are smaller than the other instruments but it has a perfect sound.
The color of bowl is dark brown and the bowl and neck are in a good shape and the sound is pleasant.

Master Asghar Zanganeh
He was a skilfull maker in making Setar and Santoor and his works proves that. At first he was carpenter and since he was interested in music, he was introduced to the culture and art making musical instrument workshop by Hosein Malek. Asghar Zanganeh worked with many great Masters such as Hosein Tehrani, Nour Ali Borumand,Ebrahim Ghanbari and Abbas Sanat.
Master Jalal Zolfonoun
He was born in Abadeh in 1316. He started learning music since he was 10 years old. His brother taught him how to play Violin. He used the methods of Master Abolhasan Saba and Arsalan Dargahi.
